Lobby Day has been Rescheduled

A few days ago, we sent out the newsletter with information about an upcoming Lobby Day in Albany. That date has since changed and we wanted to give you as much notice as possible so you can plan to attend if possible. The date has been changed from April 17th to April 24th. We will include more information about the event as it gets closer so keep an eye out for future newsletters with more details.

In the meantime, we do need your help now! We were hoping that the Medical Aid in Dying Act would be brought to a vote in either the NY Senate or Assembly Health Committee next week, but as of this moment- there is no indication that this vote has been scheduled.

If you are frustrated, know that we are frustrated with you. And while some progress has been made in getting more sponsors on this bill, we need to put more pressure on our legislators to let them know this is an issue that we care about. So here's what you can do now:

Call your lawmakers. Make two phone calls! Call the Senate Majority Leader (Andrea Stewart Cousins - 518-455-2715) and Assembly Speaker (Carl Heastie- 518-455-3791). Remind them that you support NY's Medical Aid in Dying Act (A995/S2445). Ask them why the legislature continues to delay passing this bill after 10 weeks in session, and 8 years after the bill was first introduced. Let them know how frustrated you are that this has not yet happened.
