End of Life Choices New York will host a virtual comedy show fundraiser on Zoom this Friday, May 29, 2020 at 8:30PM EST. The event’s theme
It Ain’t No Joke (. . .but we could all use a laugh) will feature eight comedians, a mixologist, and world renowned DJ.
New Yorkers have experienced tremendous grief over the past two months with the passing of over 23,000 residents. Our interactive event aims to provide comedic relief to New Yorkers who have experienced the passing of loved ones and provide much-needed resource information on end-of-life care and rights in the face of uncertainty. We hope that this unique event will help us raise awareness of these important topics in a creative way, and reach New Yorkers in diverse communities.
This fun evening will begin with a cocktail class by Shane Smith, a Harlem-based mixologist, who will provide a demonstration on how to make delicious cocktails at the “happy hour.” Then we’ll have a hilarious line up of concerned comedians who want to raise our spirits, awareness, and some funds to support EOLCNY. Jackie Fabulous is a semi-finalist on the 2019 season of America’s Got Talent. She was the only contestant Simon walked on stage to hug and her standup has been featured on FOX, BET, Last Comic Standing, Kevin Harts LOL Network and more. Kelli Dunham is a stand up comic that lost two partners in five years to cancer. Kelli’s comedy focuses on the themes of end of life care, grief and our culture’s skittishness and fear around these subjects. Brian Kiley is a comedian and the head monologue writer for Conan O’Brien. He was nominated 16 times for an Emmy! Le’Ronn McGowan is a NYC bus driver by day and comedian by night who feels strongly about the need for essential workers to discuss these issues. Shounak Vale is a comedian based in Washington, DC who entices audiences with his energy and witty takes about being a first generation Indian American. The other comedians include Ro DelleGrazie, Mike Estime, and Tovarris Pierce. The night will conclude with a virtual “dance party” at 10:00pm hosted by a world renowned DJ DeVoux.
Tickets are $25 dollars and the proceeds will help support our mission. We hope you will join us and invite your friends and family. This show is for adults, 18 years and older.
