Join us for a conversation on how to get your healthcare wishes honored at the end of life. Unfortunately, many patients do not receive medical care in alignment with their wishes. This means that some patients do not receive the care requested or desired; while others undergo interventions that are unwanted, or would not have been wanted had they had sufficient information to make a decision. By understanding how to navigate the medical system at the end of life, your wishes are more likely to be honored.
David C. Leven, who was Executive Director of End of Life Choices New York for 14 years and is now Senior Consultant to the organization, will present at this event co-sponsored by End of Life Choices New York and Death with Dignity-Albany.

End of Life Choices New York (EOLCNY), a non-profit organization, seeks to improve end of life care, expand end of life options, and promote healthcare equity to ensure a peaceful death for all New Yorkers. EOLCNY educates the public and health care professionals on end of life issues; provides free counseling and support to people who are preparing advance directives, caring for a terminally ill loved one, or who are approaching the end of life themselves; and pursues legal and legislative reform, including implementation and enforcement of advance directives and legalization of medical aid in dying.
Death with Dignity- Albany believes that everyone deserves to have a dignified, peaceful death. An organization based in Albany and serving the Capital Region of New York State and beyond, it provides a forum for people to discuss end of life issues. It also serves as a launching pad for advocacy and legislation that expands the available choices at the end of life.
