Unfortunately, many people do not know about palliative care as this is a relatively new field. A study by the Center to Advance Palliative Care found that 71% of adults report they are not knowledgeable about palliative care or have never heard of it. However, it was found that after learning about palliative care, 92% of people indicate they would be likely to consider palliative care for themselves or a loved one if they had a serious illness.
