As a valued partner in our mission, we wanted to update you about some of our advocacy accomplishments of the past year and request your continued financial support of our work. In 2020, EOLCNY gave numerous talks and webinars focused on medical aid in dying. We proudly co-hosted these events with partner organizations in order to reach as many people as possible. In the past few months, we have worked with:
We continue to advocate in Albany for individuals who would like to opt for Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) as an option for their end of life care. We also urged legislators to expand patient rights that protect all New Yorkers against unwanted medical care, including nutrition and hydration. We worked to ensure that nursing homes take stronger measures to honor patient wishes regarding their own care. And, as a direct result of lessons learned during the current pandemic, we are working to grant everyone the option to have health care proxies witnessed remotely even after the COVID-19 crisis ends. Please donate today, so that we may continue to be a strong voice in Albany for the rights of New Yorkers. |
Thank you, Ayana Woods Executive Director ayana@eolcny.org www.endoflifechoicesny.org You may be aware that the federal government recently passed the CARES Act which provides additional tax deductibility for your donation in 2020. The CARES Act re-incentivizes charitable giving by creating a $300 above the line deduction for qualified charitable contributions. This deduction is available to all taxpayers that take the standard deduction on their 2020 return. Please consult with your personal tax advisor regarding your specific eligibility for this deduction. |
